Product Features
Before the US Navy Mark V Helmet was introduced an air control valve was not a necessity. Air was supplied to the by a hand cranked air pump. A diver would signal when he wanted more or less. With the advent of gas and diesel powered air compressors much higher volumes of air could be fed to the diver and positive control became mandatory. The DESCO US Navy Diver Air Control Valve is made to the 1944 Bureau of Ships drawing. These valves were also produced by Morse and Schrader. After the war surplus was sold off and they found wide use in the commercial diving market. This valve is used with 1/2" ID Divers Air Hose having 1 1/16"- 17 threaded fittings. The valve can be used with 3/8" ID air hose using a prpoer adapter.
